Longview Real Estate News

  1. Upgrade your front door/entry.  Repaint your existing door or replace with a new do.  Replace the doorknob, hardware, house address numbers and porch light with current style fixtures.
  2. Update or add landscaping to your front yard. Trim the shrubs, pull the weeds, mow the yard, plant colorful annuals,  and put a pot of colorful flowers by the front door to draw a potential buyer's eye as they drive by. Give some thought to the theme of your plantings, do not plant just hodge podge.
  3. Don't forget your garage door, especially if it faces the street. Power wash and paint if necessary.  Place pots of colorful flowers or plants on either side of the garage door.
  4. If you have a porch, add a cozy sitting area.  Buyers love to imagine themselves sitting on the front porch and chatting with the neighbors.
  5. Replace and paint any damaged siding, wood, fascia boards, or shutters.  A well-maintained home will give confidence to the potential buyers that your home is worth the price you are asking.
  6. Add some architectural interest with shutters and moldings around the front door or garage.
  7. Do a visual check of your roof. Have all the leaves and debris blown off of the roof and clean out the gutters.
  8. If you have a drainage issue, put in French drains and gutters to drive water away from the foundation of your home.
  9. Sweep the street curbs in front of you home.  It makes a difference!
  10. Mow the area between your home and the property on both sides of your home to the adjoining driveway so that the level of grass appears seamless.  Of course, you need to coordinate this with your neighbors.
